Construction on a museum to house the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame started in late February. If all goes well it'll be ready to open in the spring of 2006. The first phase will be 15,000 square feet. Because of rapidly changing technology we hope to be one of the more modern facilities in the country our plans a for the museum to be Highly interactive and fun for young and old alike.
We will have a theater that seats around 90 that will depict the history of sports in Arkansas. If we do our job it'll give people goose bumps and bring tears to their eyes. One of the other unique features will be the (Alltel/Pat Summerall broadcast booth where one can go in, watch a video clip, read a newpaper clipping of an event...pop on a headset, and record their own play-by-play. Then pop out the tape and take it home with them). There'll also be a nice gift shop....The various sections include football, baseball, basketball, olympics, racing, coachng legends, national championship room and more. The state golf, tennis, high school and trainer's Hall of Fame's will also be housed in our facility.
